Schoellkopf Field. Commencement closes central-campus roads from 6:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. and runs shuttle buses from outlying lots; crew need to be staged before the road closure, not after it.
State Theatre of Ithaca. Downtown's last surviving historic theater, walking distance from the Commons, running over 75 dates a year with front-of-house continuity across multi-night bookings.
Ithaca Commons. The pedestrian mall hosts the Ithaca Festival's craft fair and food vendors each May, closing State Street to vehicle traffic for four days.

In New York, the expensive shortcut is paying event staff as 1099 contractors: back taxes, penalties, and joint-employer liability under federal FLSA and New York Workers' Compensation Law (WKC ch. 67).
