Venue and logistics notes

Slush Puppie Place, Sydenham Ward. The 5,000-seat downtown arena (up to 6,700 for concerts) at 1 The Tragically Hip Way has changed naming-rights sponsors four times since it opened in 2008. It hosts Kingston Frontenacs OHL hockey all winter and, every June, all ten of Queen's University's convocation ceremonies.

Invista Centre, north end. A City of Kingston recreation facility on Gardiners Road with four NHL-sized ice pads and a roughly 750-seat grandstand. Its meeting rooms and floor space take the trade shows and conferences that don't need arena scale.

Point Frederick, Royal Military College. RMC has trained officer cadets on this peninsula since 1876. Its own May convocation and outdoor Commissioning Parade run the week before Queen's ceremonies begin, and any event on campus works through the college's own access and scheduling process.

Barriefield and CFB Kingston. Ontario's first Heritage Conservation District sits beside Fort Henry National Historic Site and the Vimy and McNaughton Barracks of Canadian Forces Base Kingston. Ontario's own minimum wage, C$17.60 an hour today, rising to C$17.95 on October 1, 2026, is the floor these rates are built on, not a separate line added at the end. Ontario also licenses temporary help agencies directly: since July 2024, the Employment Standards Act has required an agency to hold a provincial licence before it can place a single worker, and it caps what an agency can keep against what it bills a client.
