Venue and logistics notes
Save Mart Center, Shaw Avenue. The Fresno State arena runs nearly 430,000 square feet and seats up to 15,596 for basketball, up to 18,000 for a center-stage concert. It sits miles northeast of downtown, so game-night and concert crews stage from the Shaw Avenue side, not downtown.
Fresno Convention Center, downtown. Three halls combine into more than 66,000 square feet on M Street. Dock-side load-in and thin downtown parking mean early call times and off-site crew parking for a full trade-show floor.
Big Fresno Fairgrounds, Chance Avenue. 165 acres under a 50-year county lease, home to the Big Fresno Fair every October. A 12-day, gate-count operation is a different staffing shape than a one-night show.

07The Fine Print
The workday, hour eight, is where California's math changes.
In California, the expensive shortcut is paying event staff as 1099 contractors: back taxes, penalties, and joint-employer liability under federal FLSA and California workers' compensation law (Labor Code §3700). California requires overtime after 8 hours worked in a single workday and double time after 12, plus overtime on the first 8 hours of a seventh consecutive workday, on top of the standard 40-hour week; a 12-hour fair-week gate shift or a two-day trade-show load-in has to be budgeted against that daily line, not just a weekly total, even in a lower-cost Central Valley market (Cal. Labor Code §510).
