Riverfront core is the compact downtown wedge where the falls drop through Riverfront Park; Numerica Veterans Arena, the Convention Center, First Interstate Center for the Arts, and The Podium all sit within a few blocks of each other and of the falls itself. Spokane Valley, a separate incorporated city east on I-90, runs its own event floor at CenterPlace Regional Event Center and carries the region's warehouse and big-box retail corridor. Gonzaga and the University District, just northeast across the river, keep a full basketball calendar at the McCarthey Athletic Center on top of downtown's. West Plains, southwest toward the airport, holds Spokane International and, a few miles further out, Fairchild Air Force Base.
The constraint here isn't distance the way it is in a sprawling metro; it's isolation. Spokane is the only sizeable market for a long stretch in any direction, so a plan can't lean on a bigger neighboring city for overflow crew or a rental house's spare inventory on short notice. Venue and logistics notes
Riverfront core, downtown. Numerica Veterans Arena, the Convention Center, First Interstate Center for the Arts, and The Podium sit close enough for one crew to cover a game night, a trade show, and a concert in the same evening. Street closures around the falls for a festival are the main scheduling wrinkle.
Spokane Valley. A separate incorporated city east on I-90, with its own event floor at CenterPlace Regional Event Center and the region's warehouse district. Orders here run on their own timeline from downtown, not as an afterthought tacked on.
Gonzaga and the University District. The McCarthey Athletic Center runs its own basketball calendar a couple of miles northeast of downtown, across the river; its game nights sit alongside, not in competition with, the arena's separate Chiefs schedule.
West Plains and the airport corridor. Spokane International Airport and Fairchild Air Force Base sit roughly 10 to 12 miles southwest of downtown. Base-adjacent work needs sponsor approval and gate clearance built into the timeline, a separate step from any downtown venue.
