02The Map
One urban center holds almost everything.
Las Colinas is the market. The Irving Convention Center runs vertical: a 48,576-square-foot column-free hall with ten drive-on docks, a 20,000-square-foot ballroom upstairs, 20 breakouts, and an attached garage and Westin. Steps away, the Toyota Music Factory block holds The Pavilion, a Live Nation house that converts from a 2,500-seat theater to an 8,000-cap indoor-outdoor amphitheater, wrapped in 20 restaurants and bars. Williams Square Plaza, under the Mustangs of Las Colinas, reopened in 2022 rebuilt for open-air programming, and Water Street adds a lakefront row of restaurants, park space, and activation sites on Lake Carolyn.
Feeding all of it is a headquarters economy: Caterpillar, McKesson, and Vistra all run their head offices from Irving, and corporate programs from those campuses and their vendors fill the calendar between conventions.

Venue and logistics notes
Irving Convention Center. Vertical circulation is the plan: crews post by floor and elevator bank, and the ten docks get scheduled to the half hour when the divisible hall runs two shows.
The Pavilion at Toyota Music Factory. Three configurations, one address. Confirm which build the night uses before setting headcount; the amphitheater mode roughly triples the theater mode.
Williams Square Plaza. Open-air programming on granite around the Mustangs; no back-of-house, so staging works from vehicles on a tight plaza-edge window.
Water Street. Lakefront activations share space with operating restaurants and residents; DART Orange Line access helps crew calls, parking sits on site.

06The Rate
One rate per role, on either side of the airwall.
Irving quotes come back as one finished hourly number per role, and the same number holds whether your show has the whole hall or half of it. Two pieces of Texas law sit under the pricing. The wage floor is the federal $7.25, and Labor Code Sec. 62.0515 keeps any local ordinance from moving it, so rates here reflect the metroplex labor market, nothing else. And because Sec. 406.002 makes workers' comp elective for most private employers, the coverage inside our rate is a choice, made in advance, on every order, so the certificate exists before anyone asks for it.

07The Fine Print
In 49 states you could assume the crew is insured.
In Texas, the expensive shortcut is paying event staff as 1099 contractors: back taxes, penalties, and joint-employer liability under federal FLSA and Texas Labor Code Sec. 406.002 (elective workers' compensation coverage).

A day the Irving Convention Center is built for: the column-free hall divides, and two trade shows of about 25,000 square feet each run side by side. The plan on the left staffs both from one order. Eight general labor split the 5:30 a.m. load-in across the hall's ten docks, four per show, while a dock marshal sequences freight so neither side stalls the other.
