Bonnaroo Event Staffing in Manchester, Tennessee

Four days. 80,000 people camping on a 700-acre working farm. 24-hour gates, 90-degree humidity, and the nearest real hotel is an hour away in Nashville. This is not a staffing problem you solve with an app.

We staff multi-day crews for Bonnaroo's Centeroo zone, Which Stage and What Stage operations, camping check-in, brand activations, and overnight security — all W-2, all insured, all with a coordinator embedded on site for the full run.

Why Bonnaroo Staffing Breaks Most Agencies

Bonnaroo is a camping festival on a farm. Your team isn't commuting to it — they're living at it. That single fact changes the math on everything: shift design, lodging, per diem, gear lists, mental health, and what you pay to keep someone through all four days instead of losing them after day two.

You don't build a four-day camp-out on maybes.

Most agencies quote Bonnaroo like it's a stadium shift. It isn't. The 1-hour drive to Nashville means nobody is going home between shifts. The on-site housing (staff camping or bunkhouse) has to be planned, booked, and fed. Heat index regularly exceeds 105°F by midday. And gates are open 24 hours — meaning overnight security rotations, third-shift guest services, and real sleep schedules for your team.

The broader playbook lives in our Festival Staffing Quick Guide. The liability layer — what changes when your workers live on-site for multiple days — lives in the Multi-State Festival Staffing Risk Brief.

Transparent Bonnaroo Staffing Pricing

Bonnaroo rates include a multi-day premium. These are all-in bill rates — W-2 wages, overtime, taxes, workers' comp, general liability, on-site coordinator, and staff lodging support are already baked in.

Overnight shifts and multi-day runs pay differently than day-of-show. Budget for it.

The Venue — Great Stage Park

Great Stage Park is 700 acres of working farmland in Manchester, Tennessee, an hour southeast of Nashville off I-24. The grounds are permanent enough to have named features (Centeroo, The Farm, What Stage, Which Stage) and rural enough that cell service is unreliable and the nearest 24-hour pharmacy is 30 minutes away. Staffing operations adapt to that reality or they don't work.

Tennessee Compliance — Plus The Multi-State Problem

Tennessee is a right-to-work state with relatively light employer regulation compared to California or New York. That's not the problem. The problem is that 40–60% of your Bonnaroo crew almost certainly lives in another state — Georgia, Kentucky, Alabama, North Carolina, sometimes further.

When a worker crosses a state line to work, payroll tax withholding, unemployment insurance, and workers' comp jurisdiction all get complicated. Most agencies pretend that doesn't exist. Then the audit happens.

  • Multi-state payroll. Out-of-state workers need withholding for both their home state and TN in most cases.
  • Workers' comp reciprocity. TN policies don't automatically cover injuries to workers domiciled elsewhere — separate arrangements or reciprocity certificates required.
  • TN security licensing. Event security needs TN-issued guard licenses. Out-of-state licenses don't transfer automatically.
  • Heat illness & overnight shift protocols. OSHA general duty clause applies; TN does not have a state-specific heat standard, but that doesn't reduce the liability exposure.
  • On-site housing liability. If you provide staff camping or bunkhouse, workers' comp coverage often extends to non-shift hours — a surprise for agencies who've never run a camping festival.

W-2. Workers' comp. Multi-state payroll done correctly.

Read the Multi-State Festival Staffing Risk Brief for the full breakdown on how to staff Bonnaroo without inheriting somebody else's tax liability.

Frequently Asked Questions

How far in advance should we book Bonnaroo staffing?

Book 100 days out for full role coverage — late February for mid-June dates. Brand activations with custom builds or uniform requirements should book 120 days out. Lodging logistics for large crews (50+) get tight if you wait past March.

Where do your staff stay during Bonnaroo?

Depends on the deployment size. Small crews stay in Manchester motels or Airbnb blocks. Larger crews (30+) we book into Nashville hotels with dedicated shuttles, or — for activation partners who need crew on-site overnight — coordinate with the festival for staff camping. Lodging is included in the bill rate either way.

Do you handle overnight and 24-hour shifts?

Yes. We build dedicated overnight rotations for security, guest services, and medical support positions. Shift design respects 8-hour sleep windows per worker and hot-weather acclimatization — not the "sleep when you can" approach that burns crews out by day three.

Can you cover multi-state crew logistics?

Yes — and we handle the payroll tax, unemployment, and workers' comp complexity that comes with it. Most of our Bonnaroo crews include workers from TN, GA, KY, AL, and NC. Each state's tax and licensing is handled correctly, end of story.

What if weather forces an evacuation?

We build severe weather contingency into every Bonnaroo contract. Thunderstorm holds are routine — our crew pulls back to secure zones, time is paid through the hold, and activation schedules resume when the weather call clears. We do not charge weather-change fees.
