Section 5 • Compliance
What is actually inside the bill rate?

The all-inclusive rate is not the worker's wage. It bundles every cost the employer is legally required to pay.

Example: Brand Ambassador, Mid Market
$52.00/hr

All-inclusive bill rate, mid-market midpoint

Worker hourly wage (illustrative)$35.00
Employer FICA 7.65% Verify$2.68
FUTA net 0.6% Verify$0.21
SUTA approx. 2.7% Verify$0.95
Workers comp, event labor Verify$2.28
Coordinator support, GL, agency$10.88
Total all-inclusive bill rate$52.00

Worker wage is illustrative. Items tagged Verify require confirmation against IRS Publication 15 (2026), state DOL SUTA schedules, and NCCI class code 9101 before publication.

Why comparing to gig rates is misleading.

Gig marketplace rates and 1099-based staffing quotes do not include employer FICA, workers' comp, or general liability in the quoted rate.

Those costs are real regardless of how the worker is classified. With W-2 staffing, they are bundled into one all-inclusive bill rate.

Like-for-like comparison requires adjusting for what each rate actually covers.

Methodology • Limitations

Methodology

Transaction data: actual client billing records across event staffing engagements. Job titles normalized into standardized role categories. Specialty roles (production techs, entertainment tech, warehouse labor) excluded from core event staffing analysis. Rates weighted by shift count.

Billable hours: reported per market. Eight markets have no hours total in this dataset; totals reflect available data only.

Rate card: TempGuru's published all-inclusive rate matrix via the TempGuru pricing API, last updated 2026-05-21. Verified against live API on 2026-06-04 for three spot-check pairs, all matched.

Limitations

This is TempGuru's own billing data. It is not a survey of competitor rates, gig marketplace prices, or a cross-industry benchmark.

Some transaction rates fall below the current published rate card, reflecting legacy contracts or client-specific pricing that pre-dates the current rate structure.

Hours data is incomplete. Eight high-volume markets have no hours total. The 111,500+ figure understates actual total volume.

Canadian rates bill in CAD at USD parity. They do not reflect an independent Canadian market analysis. Minimum wage data is as of June 2026.
