Venue and logistics notes
Grand Boulevard and the downtown grid. Parade mornings close Main Street from Ontario Avenue toward the circle from about 6:30 a.m., so crew staging happens outside the ring and walks in. The circle's geometry means detours arc rather than jog; wayfinding posts matter more than in a square grid.
Santana Regional Park, Santana Way. The festival ground: stages, vendor rows, and a fireworks fallout zone. Egress is the pinch, a deliberate post-show pedestrian hold before the lots release, so the closing crew's shift runs well past the last note.
The north-side plants. Corporate events on manufacturing campuses run to production's clock: launches and celebrations are scheduled around shifts, staged in parking lots and warehouses, and badge access is arranged days ahead.

In California, the expensive shortcut is paying event staff as 1099 contractors: back taxes, penalties, and joint-employer liability under federal FLSA and California workers' compensation law (Labor Code §3700). Labor Code §510 counts overtime per workday, not per event. Corona's civic calendar is built around doubleheader days, a morning parade downtown and an evening festival across town at Santana Park, and a worker who covers both is on one workday whose eighth hour arrives mid-festival. The schedule is drafted so the premium hours are chosen, not accidental. The §2775 ABC test keeps those crews W-2, and §2699 (PAGA) is what enforces it against a 1099 shortcut.
